Sean Ferrell
I live and work in New York City. I write fiction. I have an agent, Janet Reid, and she is currently in the process of submitting my novel to publishers.
My work is slightly off-kilter. I've heard the term "cross-genre" tossed around, and "critical fiction" was a term a teacher slapped me with in grad school (Emerson College). I don't know that I like either or any label. I write fiction which is in a (mostly) recognizable world, but with a twist. My story "The Phrenologist's Collection" (which appeared in Bossa Nova Ink) was about a professor of phrenology who is desperate to have an affair with a student. "Off the Wall" (in WORDS) was a tale of a man who worked as a lawyer in a US where practicing the law was illegal, and he had to work on the streets passing out legal advice like it was a narcotic. "The Candles are on the Cake" (Uber) was about an elite military squad that has Osama Bin Laden captured, but are waiting for the proper political time to bring him in. My story "The Houses in their Backs" (The Cafe Irreal) is about, if anything, logic and language. And my story, "Building an Elephant," (winner of the Fulton Prize from The Adirondack Review) is a tale about a boy's relationship with his animal building father.
