For the love of God, why go to The Creation Museum?
John Scalzi has stepped in some dino poop. Or maybe it's Adam scat. I don't know.
John Scalzi revealed to his readers on his site, Whatever, that he does in fact live near the newly opened Creation Museum (a museum* which shows how dinosaurs roamed the earth at the same time as Adam and Eve, about 8000 years ago). When he stated that he would never attend said museum some readers challenged him saying that he should go and provide a report. John must feel very connected to his readers because he accepted the challenge and upped the ante: he will attend the museum and provide a report but only if his readers cough up some Paypal donations. He wants to see at least $250 in the kitty by Friday (June 15). All funds raised will go to a good cause: Americans United for Separation of Church and State.
The challenge has led to some marvelous photoshopping such as the one posted above (which I stole from here.)
*Here's an interesting mind-game you can play to pass the time during your next root-canal: A museum is by definition, "a building, place, or institution devoted to the acquisition, conservation, study, exhibition, and educational interpretation of objects having scientific, historical, or artistic value." So now we have a Creation Museum which takes tenants of faith and presents them as fact. Ignoring the fact that tenants of faith shouldn't require the backing which Creationists seem to believe they should, which does a Creation Museum fit into: an institution concerned with objects which are scientific, historical, or artistic?

Sounds like he's going to be heading to the museum, though. That should be an interesting blog post.
It's fascinating how folks (not just the Creationists) adopt the language of science to strengthen their position, yet so utterly fail to adopt the spirit of science. Whenever you approach a "study" with the intention of proving a point, you've failed before you've begun.
